Trinity Stlhd Fishing…
We went through a little slow period on the Trinity River around Thanksgiving time and for a week or two after… weather turned cold and the fishing got a little stale. Steelhead were tight lipped and we struggled to hook a few adult each day. It was a tough transition after experiencing such a steller early Fall Season w/ incredible steelhead fishing back in Oct/Nov.
The full moon cycle in early December seemed to get the fish moving again and we may be seeing a fresh rotation of fish. Some days were better than others and on the best days we got into good numbers of stlhd with some really solid fish hitting the net.
We may be in that sorta lull period right now until the late fall-run wild steelhead begin to show up. No telling what the future holds but I am optimistic for more favorable steelhead fishing as we move into the latter half of the season in January - February time.
It seems like the salmon run and early steelhead runs have been solid - so there is no reason to expect any less on the later fall-run and winter stlhd to come later this winter.
Stay tuned…
