Late Winter Steelhead Fishing…
Been a while since I updated our Steelhead Report. The Trinity River has been up and down and all over the board as we move from storm system to storm system. It’s been a wet year… despite the long dry spell we experienced for nearly the entire month of January. December and February have been wet months and are contributing to the seasonal rain/snow totals.
All-in-all we are having a great steelhead season and there have been a lot of fish in the system this year! Many of these fish are wild steelhead.
Of course, we have had the typical slow periods and scratchy fishing during certain weeks. But that is the nature of steelhead fishing. It’s not always on-fire… but when it is… it’s a barnburner.
I landed our first steelhead fishing w/ my daughter in July of this year and will likely land steelhead all the way to March this season… that’s a 10 month season of steelhead. We are so lucky to have the Trinity River in our backyard.
*Positive rumors of a Salmon Season this summer. We should know for sure in April. Stand by for this…
