Trinity River Salmon…

Fall-Run Chinook salmon season is firmly underway on the upper Trinity near Weaverville and we are seeing a lot of solid fish coming through this past week!! Some darker fish for sure - but many are not! We have been stoked to net some very brite fish this week!

Trinity River fish may not be as big as the famous Sacramento River Kings… but nobody will convince me otherwise that fishing from a drift boat, in relative solitude w/ peace an quiet… isn’t a whole lot better than rubbing elbows on a 6-pack jet boat with another 15 boats within spitting distance of each other in one Hole.

HAHA no shade to those anglers… just saying… I’ll take “smaller” fish on a oar driven drift boat, on a beautiful river in the mountains any day of the week!!

Along with some fall-run chinookies we are seeing some nice wild steelhead occasionally and lots of scrappy Halfies as well. Steelhead fishing should only get better with each week…

The river is currently flowing at 1200cfs out of the dam so it is pushy and boily in places. Flows are set to drop back down to 450cfs on the 23rd of September.
