Fall River Time…

I have been spending most of my time on Fall River, near Fall River Mills, CA and a few days a week on the Lower Sac here in Redding. Both rivers are fishing very well…

Quick report for the Lower Sac… the bugs are back! We are finally seeing solid numbers of pmd’s along with caddis and stoneflies hatching in the afternoon. It has been a welcome sight after such a slow start to the spring season.

The numbers of caddis we are already seeing is promising and I hope the trend continues into summer. The caddis hatch drives the fly fishing during the hotter summer months, along with ped’s and little yellow sally stones. All of which have been popping off recently.

The bigger news is that Fall River has been outstanding. This is the river I will be spending more time on as we move into June. The river is in great shape with lots of clean, cold spring fed water. The weed beds are growing nicely and the pmd hatch has been very strong!

We have enjoyed lots of dry fly opportunities for those who want to commit to fishing as hunting. This is not always a numbers game (but some days it can be!) but the well placed dry fly and confident eat from a big, wild, Fall River rainbow is an unforgettable moment. It is truly the way fly fishing was intended to be!

Come see me on Fall River this summer… very limited dates left in June… a few in July and late August/Sept. Contact me asap to get your dates booked.
